The We Care for California coalition supports the goal that California should be the nation's health care leader in access, quality and affordability. We are demanding that California’s leaders are responsible stewards of health care in the state now and in the future.
Together, the groups of We Care for California will meet at the Capitol on June 4, 2013, to make the voices of health care heard.
Despite the state's improved budget outlook, the Governor’s budget includes roughly $1 billion per year in Medi-Cal provider rate cuts. If the state moves forward with these cuts, access to care will be devastated, not only for existing Medi-Cal patients, but also and the millions of patients that will be newly eligible for Medi-Cal under the Affordable Care Act in 2014.
Senate Bill 640 (Lara) and Assembly Bill 900 (Alejo) would stop the $1 billion cut to the Medi-Cal program. On June 4, thousands of doctors, nurses, hospital workers, dentists, clinics, patients and advocacy organizations will gather at the state Capitol to urge the Legislature to pass and Governor Brown to sign these bills.
