The Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) is the quality arm of CMA. Since January 1996, IMQ has helped improve the quality of care delivered to patients in California through a range of accreditation, certification, education and consultative activities. CMA members, serving as educators, surveyors and consultants, provide a face for organized medicine in hospitals, surgicenters, medical offices, health care organizations, and elsewhere, as they interact throughout the state to improve systems of care.
IMQ is dedicated to improving the quality of care provided to patients across the continuum of health care. Its programs include ambulatory care facility accreditation, the Consolidated Accreditation and Licensure Survey program, continuing medical education accreditation and certification, correctional health care accreditation and membership, peer review consultations, extensive educational programs and research.
