1241 Disruptive Behavior Involving Members of the Medical Staff
A frequent cause for concern for medical staffs is the physician who has practice patterns or personality traits which could potentially compromise the quality of care provided to patients. These physicians typically do not have identified substance abuse or psychiatric disorders. Medical staffs must be prepared to assist the physician to work together cooperatively and effectively with others to achieve quality care. Where it can, the medical staff should serve as the advocate for the individual physician. At times, however, it may be necessary to take limiting, though supportive, action in the interest of patient safety.
