1603 HIPAA ACT SMART_Introduction to the HIPAA Privacy Rules
This document will provide a basic outline for compliance with the HIPAA Privacy Rules. While this overview does not purport to provide instructions on all aspects of compliance for all physician offices, this should provide an outline for physicians and their staff to use in developing their own HIPAA compliance plan. Compliance forms as well as sample policies and procedures are available through the CMA/PrivaPlan HIPAA Toolkit, CMA's sponsored comprehensive HIPAA compliance CD-Rom. As a compliment to the resources in the HIPAA Toolkit, there are sample Notice of Privacy Practices and Privacy Policy forms included at the end of the document.
