Among other requirements imposed by the HIPAA Privacy Rules is the requirement that physicians covered by HIPAA enter into HIPAA-compliant "business associate agreements" with individuals and companies. This document discusses the definition of "business associates", the enforcement of these agreements, along with providing a sample Business Associate Agreement.
