This document discusses federal law that eliminates legal barriers for the use of “electronic signatures.” The “eSign law,” formally known as the “Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act” ( 15 U.S.C. §7001), accords the same status to electronic signatures and records as their paper-based and handwritten counterparts.
