In partnership with the affiliated County Medical Societies, CMA has provided physicians with many of the ancillary benefits customary with a professional membership association for over 150 years.
But profound changes impacting the practice of medicine strongly suggest the need for CMA to change its direction and focus to continue to meet the needs of physicians and remain the premiere medical association in California.
A rapidly evolving health care marketplace, economic environment, shifting demographics and emerging health information and treatment technologies demand constant adaptation by physicians. The enactment of federal health care reform will bring additional changes that will impact every physician in California. It also presents unique opportunities and potential perils to consider as physicians and other stakeholders reshape the health care delivery system.
Recognizing the urgency of the challenges facing all physicians, CMA embarked on a path of discovery, planning, and change designed to envision, anticipate, and manifest the best possible future for all physicians and their patients in California.
The CMA Board of Trustees was proactive in 2010 by engaging a new CEO and leadership team with the insight, experience, skills, and commitment to guide this transformation with an effective strategic plan.
